Irish pop group Westlife will give a live concert in Dubai on August 29 at the new Coca-Cola Arena. The pop group from Ireland between the years 1999 and 2006 fourteen times came out on top in the UK charts.
This is the third achievement in history, after Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Despite such a resounding success, the group is relatively little known outside the countries of the British Commonwealth.
The group was created in Dublin by the managers of the popular Boyzone boy band with the participation of that group's lead singer, Ronan Keating. After the breakup of Boyzone in 2000, Westlife actually took their place as the main idols of a teenage female audience in Ireland and the UK.
They set an incredible record - all seven of their first singles debuted in the UK in first place. The bulk of Westlife's hits are cover versions of classic ballads from the 1970s and 1980s.
