Arab Emirates Introduces New Visa Rules for Teens

In the United Arab Emirates, visa extension rules for people over 18 have changed.

UAE residents can now extend the residency visas of their 18-year-old dependents for two consecutive years, the Federal Office for Identification and Citizenship said on Wednesday, June 19.

Thus, the permit will be valid for a year and can be extended for another year. This opportunity is available upon completion of secondary education, university, or upon reaching the dependent age of 18 years.

Authorities said guardians are no longer required to file applications requiring a security deposit of AED 5,000 ($ US 1.36,000). When filing the application, a fee of 100 dirhams ($ US 27.2) is paid.

To extend the visa, residents of the UAE can submit supporting documents, which include a certificate of general secondary education or a diploma of graduation from the university where the dependent was studying. Certified documents from the UAE and foreign countries are accepted.
