Abu Dhabi University Spends 50 Million Dirhams on Scholarships

The University of Abu Dhabi allocated 50 million dirhams for scholarships to low-income gifted students.

The Zakat Fund of the University of Abu Dhabi allocated 50 million dirhams to scholarships for more than 1.5 thousand outstanding students. The scholarships were offered as part of the initiative “Our Youth, Our Responsibility is Our Zakat”, implemented jointly with the Zakat Fund.

The program was launched in 2010 and has been held annually since then. Its goal is to provide financial support to worthy students while they are studying at a university. The program shows excellent results. Through zakat and other donations, the initiative managed to collect 50 million dirhams: these funds were used to ease the financial burden for the most successful students from poor families studying at the university campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, and so on.

Mr. Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Daheri, Chairman of the Executive Board of the University of Abu Dhabi said: “This annual scholarship emphasizes the role of the University of Abu Dhabi in ensuring the stability of the UAE society in the fields of education and social security. Our efforts are consistent with the strategy of the wise leaders of the United Arab Emirates in the field of supporting low-income students through collaboration with like-minded organizations. "

Mr. Al Daheri also added that the program is consistent with the principles of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as part of the "Year of Zayed" in the UAE. According to him, the founding father of the state has always supported the development of education in the country.

"At our university, we are trying to create the best conditions for the development of students."

The administration of the University of Abu Dhabi invites everyone to contribute to support the most gifted students.
