Elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On December 23, 2007, elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan were held at polling stations of the UAE. Voting was conducted on an alternative basis, in accordance with the constitution of the country. The head of state was elected for the next seven years. 50% of the citizens of the country registered at consular offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the UAE to date have participated in the vote. Polling stations in the UAE were opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Abu Dhabi: Murur District, East Zone No. 38/1, Street No. 25, Lane No. 16, Villa No. 10- "B" (tel .: (02) 44- 88-215, (02) 44-88-217), as well as at the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Dubai: Jumeirah District No. 3, Street No. 14 - "B", Villa No. 100 (behind the HSBC Bank). According to the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Madayev Bakhtiyor Kamildjanovich, in general, the vote was successful. During the counting of votes, a clear leader was determined at the metropolitan and Dubai polling stations - the current president of Uzbekistan, Islam Abduganievich Karimov. Of the 262 votes, 191 votes were cast for him. The remaining candidates, who were far behind, scored from 18 to 28 votes.
